Embedded Software Engineer

Greensight is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead and contribute to the technical development on programs within our defense and agriculture portfolios. As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work as part of a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to design, integrate, debug, and test our robotics systems. You will focus on delivering innovative mission solutions through the lifecycle of system development, including requirements development, design analysis, and integration & test.

Qualifications / Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate in all stages of the software development cycle.
  • Work with Systems and Hardware Engineers to translate business needs and customer requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop/integrate/maintain software applications and services running on embedded robotic computer systems
  • Customize open-source software and integrate with Greensight software/services

Preferred Education and Experience

  • BS with 3+ Years of Experience, MS/PhD with 1+ Years’ Experience
  • Experience with robotic and/or autonomous systems at the hardware and software level.
  • Proficiency with  Python, C/C++, Bash shell scripting
  • Familiarity with git or other distributed version control systems
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite (Jira, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Experience with Debian, Ubuntu, or other similar Linux distributions
  • Experience working with, building, and installing/integrating open-source software; experience with package-maintenance a plus
  • Experience developing, integrating, and deploying software on embedded Linux platforms; realtime experience using Linux or other operating systems such as ChibiOS, NuttX or FreeRTOS a plus
  • Experience interfacing embedded hardware with sensors and mechanical actuators
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Startup experience is also a major plus

Compensation / Benefits

Salary for this position will be strongly based on experience and education and expected to be in the range of $120k-$160k. Compensation package includes stock options, health insurance, short and long term disability, life insurance and 401k. Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Marine Robotics Focus

We are seeking a smart, highly-capable engineer to lead projects and participate in design, development and testing of the mechanical elements of Greensight’s custom-developed underse  and amphibious robots.  The position requires a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and at least a year of hands-on experience with designing and prototyping subsea or amphibious robotic systems. The mechanical engineer works as part of a small tight-knit development team consisting of a variety of specialized engineers. They must have strong written and verbal communications skills, and be comfortable communicating via Slack and e-mail in a fast paced, small team startup environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

Specific tasks that might be performed by the mechanical engineer include:

  • Creating and analyzing novel vehicle concepts 
  • Using experience in subsea design to create systems that work reliably in harsh marine environments
  • Completing detailed designs (sufficient for manufacture) of mechanical components in CAD
  • Building prototype components in our machine shop or via 3D printing
  • Overseeing manufacture of prototype components at outside vendors.
  • Leading overall mechanical assembly of prototype vehicles and subsystems.
  • Testing and characterization of propulsion systems
  • Planning and participating in field testing of robots.
  • Performing structural and thermal analysis of components and assemblies
  • Managing development programs
  • Contributing to proposals and business development efforts

Greensight is a dynamic, fast paced small company developing robotics technologies to transform industries. We have built one of the most widely deployed automated drone intelligence platforms in the world, and develop technologies in robotics, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and communications. Our prospective hires will help build and operate UAV's and robots as well as participate in the design and test of new systems such as super-high-performance aircraft (multicopters and fixed wing), swarming systems, autonomous systems that integrate both flying and wheeled robots,  cloud-based analysis software, advanced avionic platforms, and AI software tools that improve reliability and safety of platforms. 

We're looking for 5 Engineering Co-ops to help us develop UAVs, robots (ground/amphibious/underwater), software systems (including software for processing data), propulsion, and other associated robotic systems.  The co-ops will work fulltime from June or July 2023 through December 2023. Our Coop positions are for a MINIMUM OF 5 MONTHS. We do not plan to offer summer-only Co-ops in 2023.

We purposefully keep this job description unusually broad, because we have a wide enough variety of ongoing work that we can hire students from a wide variety of majors. In the past we've hired students studying mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, and business, both undergraduates and masters students. (Masters students are especially encouraged to apply.)

Qualifications / Requirements

Core skills we are looking for:

  • Circuit and PCB design software such as KiCAD or Altium
  • Familiarity with setting up and using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
  • Electrical test and acceptance test design and implementation
  • Electrical prototyping skills including soldering and reflow SMT components, breadboarding proto circuits, and modifying PCBAs
  • Familiarity with PCB production and assembly

Desired, but not required, experience:
