UAV Pilot and Operations Coordinator Job Description

Job Description

Greensight is a dynamic, funded startup developing fully automated drone systems and a wide variety of related hardware and software. We are expanding an elite team of smart, hard working engineers who can combine their skills to lead one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

We are seeking a Flight Operations Coordinator to monitor drone flights (via custom software over the internet) from our Boston, MA office and perform drone test flights in the field, among numerous other tasks. You will work as a key member of our operations team providing service to golf courses, vineyards, farms, and other drone customers. 

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Checking airspace for prospective customers & sites
  • Utilizing mission planning software (training provided) to best serve customer sites with safety as a first priority
  • Ability to prep and ship drones to customer sites
  • Submitting authorizations and waivers to the FAA
  • Remotely monitoring (via custom software over the internet) multiple drone flights per day at locations across North America and overseas
  • Assist in the scheduling and maintenance of our flight schedule.
  • Planning and performing on-site drone test flights.
  • Upholding a high standard of customer deliverablesConduct safety overviews with customers and employees when necessary

Qualifications / Requirements

Preferred candidates will have the following:

  • 14 CFR Part 107 (UAV) certification and be in good standing or the ability to acquire within the first month of employment
  • Experience operating drones (commercial or recreational)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Professional appearance 
  • Ability to “learn on the fly”
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites when necessary for a variety of projects
  • Experience with mission planning software (Mission Planner, GSP, Drone Deploy or Pix4d) is a plus.
  • Willingness to “wear many hats” when necessary
  • Exceptional planning skills and attention to detail
  • Basic mechanical skills

Compensation / Benefits

Opportunities will also arise to expand your role at the company according to your interests and experience. Compensation will vary between $60k and $70k based on experience and knowledge, along with stock options, health and dental insurance, and short and long term disability insurance.

We are seeking a smart, highly-capable sales professional to sell our tech services and products to turfgrass customers in the southwest region of the United States. These services and products include the TurfCloud software dashboard, our cutting edge drone service, robotic mowers, soil moisture sensors, and additional software-based services.

The candidate must be a self starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of urgency, and the ability to treat every potential sale as if you own the company. Although a library of interested leads will be shared and discussed with the candidate once hired, you must be capable of creating your own 'leads’. The candidate must be capable of understanding and implementing the company's technological tools after a short training period. The desired candidate should be able to make sales via screen shares/web casts as successfully as they sell through face-to-face meetings.

Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Marine Robotics Focus

We are seeking a smart, highly-capable engineer to lead projects and participate in design, development and testing of the mechanical elements of Greensight’s custom-developed underse  and amphibious robots.  The position requires a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and at least a year of hands-on experience with designing and prototyping subsea or amphibious robotic systems. The mechanical engineer works as part of a small tight-knit development team consisting of a variety of specialized engineers. They must have strong written and verbal communications skills, and be comfortable communicating via Slack and e-mail in a fast paced, small team startup environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

Specific tasks that might be performed by the mechanical engineer include:

  • Creating and analyzing novel vehicle concepts 
  • Using experience in subsea design to create systems that work reliably in harsh marine environments
  • Completing detailed designs (sufficient for manufacture) of mechanical components in CAD
  • Building prototype components in our machine shop or via 3D printing
  • Overseeing manufacture of prototype components at outside vendors.
  • Leading overall mechanical assembly of prototype vehicles and subsystems.
  • Testing and characterization of propulsion systems
  • Planning and participating in field testing of robots.
  • Performing structural and thermal analysis of components and assemblies
  • Managing development programs
  • Contributing to proposals and business development efforts

Compensation / Benefits

Salary for this position is strongly dependent on experience and education and expected to be between $90k and $170k.  We anticipate hiring multiple individuals at various levels of seniority.

We are seeking a hands-on and versatile electrical engineer to help design and produce the growing range of avionics, sensors, propulsion systems, radios and cameras that we use on our UAVs and robots. You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and tackling any electronic problem that arises.

GreenSight works on cutting edge technologies and assumes that employees will routinely learn new skills on the job. We value creativity, drive and proven ability to pick up new skills over specific past experience and skills.

Qualifications / Requirements

Core skills we are looking for:

  • Circuit and PCB design software such as KiCAD or Altium
  • Familiarity with setting up and using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
  • Electrical test and acceptance test design and implementation
  • Electrical prototyping skills including soldering and reflow SMT components, breadboarding proto circuits, and modifying PCBAs
  • Familiarity with PCB production and assembly

Desired, but not required, experience:

  • Aircraft electronics, avionics and sensors
  • Microcontrollers and associated circuits
  • Power electronics such as switch mode supplies, BLDC motor controllers and battery management circuits
