Service Technician Northern California

Job Description

GreenSight is seeking a full-time, salaried, Service Technician to add to our Northern California team. This position is a great opportunity for a hands-on individual seeking a role that offers variety and growth. Golf course assistant superintendents, sports turf managers, or senior grounds crew members are encouraged to apply.

This position will be responsible for providing remote and in-person service to GreenSight customers and their products. This may include, but is not limited to, GreenSight drones, Husqvarna Automowers, and various soil sensor systems. Remote service may include troubleshooting errors via phone and/or video chat, email communication between customers and manufacturer support teams, filing and processing warranty claims, etc. In-person support will often require the use of basic hand and power tools to diagnose and repair damaged or faulty parts.

Service technicians are also expected to lead and/or assist on automower installations for new customers and assist the sales team with automower demonstrations as needed. Travel is a common part of this role, with frequent overnight travel.

Qualifications / Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 2-4 year degree/certificate in a turf related field preferred

Experience Requirements

2-3 years experience as a golf course assistant superintendent, sports field manager, or landscape manager is preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Competent with Google Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively in-person, over the phone, through email, etc.
  • Self-starter able to work independently, creating and managing your own schedule
  • Highly organized
  • Team player

Special Requirements

  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Northern California within reasonable commuting distance to the GreenSight warehouse located in Ceres, California.
  • Valid US Driver’s License
  • Currently hold or ability to obtain the FAA’s Part 107 UAV license within 90 days of hire

Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on and versatile senior or principal electrical engineer to help design and produce the growing range of avionics, sensors, propulsion systems, radios and cameras that we use on our UAVs and robots. You must be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and tackling any electronic problem that arises.

Qualifications / Requirements

Core skills we are looking for:

  • Electrical project lead with circuit and PCB design software such Altium
  • Analog, mixed signal and digital design practices and techniques
  • Familiarity with setting up and using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
  • Generating and executing electrical test and acceptance test documentation, design and implementation
  • Electrical prototyping skills including soldering and reflow SMT components, breadboarding proto circuits, and modifying PCBAs
  • Familiarity with driving PCB designs from concept to production

Desired, but not required, experience:

  • Aircraft electronics, avionics and sensors (digital and analog)
  • High power conversion, handling in the >100V / >1 kW
  • Microcontrollers and associated circuits
    • Including associated standard communication buses such as I2C, CAN, UART, SPI, etc
  • Power electronics such as switch mode supplies, BLDC motor controllers and battery management circuits
  • Integration of imaging sensors and camera systems
  • RF design and test
  • Project leadership and proposals
  • 6-10+ Years of experience in electrical design and R&D environment.

Compensation / Benefits

Salary for this position is strongly dependent on experience and education and expected to be between $130k and $150k.  We anticipate hiring multiple individuals at various levels of seniority.

All staff work a 9 day/80 hour schedule, taking every other Friday off.

Senior Electrical Engineer: High Power Systems

Our rapid growth has led to our need for a hard-working, motivated person to support and lead high power electronic designs. We pride ourselves in wearing several functional hats.  The EE Power engineer will be an integral part of the EE team working on and developing a range of high power electronics to support inverters, converters and power management in the multi kilowatt range.  This design position requires a strong knowledge of schematic and PCB design implementing high voltage and high currents as well as sub system level design.  Additional responsibilities include manufacturing, integration and test while addressing performance requirements without sacrificing safety in the lab.  The candidate should have a big picture approach to DFM, DFT when developing design and setup strategies. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast paced, small team startup environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

The ideal candidate would have several of the following qualifications:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, system engineering or related field
    Minimum of 8+ years experience (6 + Masters) with power electronics, preferably greater than 100V and 1kW or greater
  • A good understanding of electrical and firmware system interaction  (i.e. power systems, shielding, grounding, signal transmission, cabling etc)
  • A good understanding of high power system losses, thermal considerations and methods for power dissipation
  • Writing documentation while working across functional teams for both pre- and post- electrical testing activities to address requirements, functionality, system bring up development and post field performance and failures
  • Designing, procuring and implementing test setups that address safety requirements while able to functional test
  • Some experience with FW programming and debugging
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills

Responsibilities of the position are:

  • Working cross functionally and with team leads to develop system and or sub system requirements
  • Design PCBs with Altium capable of high power conversion (AC, DC, >1kWatt)
  • Hands on testing and debugging of PCB circuit boards 
  • Hands on testing of electrical systems driving results to requirements
  • Specifying, purchasing, and assembling test hardware including COTs and in-house components
  • Building and supporting cable assembly for test setups and sub system integration
  • Develop test setups for interacting with the DUTs to address functional requirements
  • Documentation of cabling and test setups
  • Field testing and demonstration support

Compensation / Benefits

Salary for this position, starting at $140K, is strongly based on experience and education. Compensation package includes stock options, health insurance, short and long term disability, and 401k with match. GreenSight offers a 9/80 flexible work schedule, and gives everyone the week between Christmas and New Years off in addition to their 15 days of paid vacation.
