Greensight Competed in the Pentagon's Drone Dominance Gauntlet — Here's What We Learned

In February 2026, Greensight was among 25 companies selected by the Department of Defense to compete in Gauntlet I of the Drone Dominance Program — a landmark $1.1 billion initiative designed to rapidly build America's strike drone capacity and field hundreds of thousands of one-way attack UAS over the next two years.

Being invited to the Gauntlet was itself a significant milestone. The DoD evaluated hundreds of domestic and international drone manufacturers before narrowing the field to 25. We were proud to stand alongside some of the most capable unmanned systems companies in the country.

How We Performed

Our team — led at Fort Benning by VP for Emerging Technology Michael Clatworthy and CEO James Peverill — competed in an intensive, multi-week evaluation covering precision flight, targeting, mission performance, and operator experience. Our platforms scored exceptionally well on the precision flight and targeting missions. What kept us off the winner's leaderboard wasn't the drone — it was production scale.

The Drone Dominance Program isn't just a technology competition. It's a manufacturing competition. Winners are expected to deliver drones by the tens of thousands, on compressed timelines. The Pentagon's mandate to us was clear: build the manufacturing infrastructure to match the performance. That's exactly what we're doing.

The story caught attention well beyond the defense community. The Boston Globe covered Greensight in depth in May, and the Washington Post followed with a feature in June — both examining what it takes for American aerospace startups to compete in this new era of defense procurement. The Washington Post piece specifically highlighted how our roots in advanced aerospace engineering allow us to build high-stakes technology across both commercial turf management and national security platforms — a dual-use capability that sets us apart. What Comes Next

Greensight is currently raising capital to expand production capacity. Right now, we manufacture in Charlestown. The plan is to scale into a larger facility in New England by end of year — purpose-built for high-volume output of low-cost, mission-critical autonomous defense systems, built right here in the US.

Gauntlet II is already underway, with 48 companies competing for contracts across long-range strike and close-quarters systems. We're watching closely and positioning ourselves for Gauntlets 3 & 4.
